NoChatReports Download

How to install the No Chat Reports mod

Takes about two minutes if you've never modded before, thirty seconds if you have. Works the same on Fabric, NeoForge, Forge and Quilt.

1 — get a loader

You need a mod loader matching your Minecraft version: Fabric, NeoForge, Forge or Quilt. Run its installer once and it adds a new profile to your launcher. Already running mods? Skip this step.

2 — grab the jar

Download the build for your loader and game version from the download page. On Fabric, also grab Fabric API (skip on 1.19.2, it's bundled). On Quilt, use the Fabric jar (works up to 1.21.5).

3 — drop it in mods

Put the jar (both jars, on Fabric) in your mods folder:

  • Windows: press Win+R, run %appdata%\.minecraft\mods
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods
  • Linux: ~/.minecraft/mods

No mods folder yet? Create it, or launch the loader profile once and it appears on its own.

4 — launch and verify

Start the game with the loader's profile and open chat. You'll see the mod's status icon in the chat screen. Green check: this server can't report your chat.

Installing on a server

Same jar, same idea: drop it in the server's mods folder and restart. Signatures get stripped before messages are relayed, so reporting stops working for everyone who joins, modded or not.

Config files appear in the NoChatReports folder after first launch. The wiki documents every option, including how to get safe server status and how to require the mod on joining clients. Behind a Velocity proxy, set force-key-authentication = false in velocity.toml (thanks to MrMelon54 for that one).

If something breaks

Quick fixes

The game crashes on launch

Nine times out of ten the jar doesn't match your setup: wrong game version, wrong loader, or Fabric API is missing. Check all three against the version table, delete the wrong jar, try again.

I don't see the status icon

The mod isn't loading. Make sure you launched the loader's profile (not vanilla), and that the jar actually sits in mods and not in your downloads folder. The mod list on the pause screen confirms what's loaded.

Chat commands stopped working on some server

That server enforces secure profiles, so it refuses unsigned chat. Expected with a client-only install; the mod warned you with its screen. Allow signing for that session, or play elsewhere. More in the FAQ.
